Staff Profile: Ian Fleming

Every once in a while, we like to profile one of the Northern Honda employees who help us provide great customer service in North Bay.

Ian Fleming has been with us since Sept of 1996 and is now well into his third decade with the dealership. Ian is a Sales Manager, primarily focusing on new vehicle sales.

He’s from Powassan, south of North Bay, and says Honda has been part of his life for a long time.

“I grew up around Honda Products. As kids, we had Honda dirt bikes, ATVs, and 3-wheelers. Then when I was 16 my parents bought a Honda vehicle and I learned early they were a very well-made automobile,” he explains.

He remembers one of his first jobs was Honda-related, as well. “I had a student contract position at the Honda Canada manufacturing plant in Alliston Ontario. When it ended, I came home and knew I wanted to work with cars,” Ian remembers.

“I applied and was happy to get a job detailing and washing cars, and after a few months, I got a chance to come onto the showroom floor to assist customers. They said ‘go buy a suit’ and that was how I discovered I enjoyed working with people and promoting Honda’s quality products.”

“I pretty much bleed Honda red,” he says laughing.

When not at the dealership, he enjoys time with his wife Jill, and their two children Myah and James. They enjoy outdoor activities together and Ian says “my life’s pretty simple – I love being a family guy.”
