Meet the Team: Speed Racer Ron
May 22 2020, Northern Honda
Meet the Team: Speed Racer Ron, our Fixed Operations Manager, oversees our service and parts departments and staff. He also could be described as someone who lives and breathes Honda!
"My parents owned a Honda Motorcycle shop as well as the Honda dealership in Timmins. So when I was a high school kid, I worked part-time around Honda motorcycles, and I saw the quality of the Honda product," he explains.
"Then when I got out of school I joined the family business and started at the Honda dealership in 1980," he adds.
Ron managed the parts and service department there until 1997 when his parents sold the business. He spent almost 16 years with a Honda dealership in Peterborough before a desire to return North hit him and his wife.
"We still have family here in the North and wanted to be closer to them. So when I had the opportunity to work for Northern Honda in 2013 I jumped at it, and I've been happy I did ever since," states Lauzon.
He's had some exciting times in vehicles outside of the service department though - Ron raced in the Honda-Michelin Car Series as a hobby from 1981 to 1986. Then for 12 years, he would find time to race professionally in showroom stock car circuits, until he hung up his helmet in 1998.
These days Ron enjoys spending time with family and puttering around in his home workshop. While he does enjoy woodworking, Ron finds it hard to stay away from Hondas.
"In my spare time I enjoy working on motorcycles," he says laughing.
Say "HI" to Ron next time you're in the dealership.
